Abuse Policy
It is our responsibility at Precious Angel’s to ensure that all children enrolled at our center are safe and protected against abuse and neglect from staff members, parents, or any other adult or child. We are mandated reporters and are required to report any suspicions.
Our School administration supports a “zero tolerance” against abuse and neglect.
If a staff member is suspected of abuse or neglect occurs, the following steps will be taken:
Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) will be notified within 12 hours. The parent(s) or guardian(s) of the child(ren) will be made aware that a report was made. A written report will be made which will include the name of the child involved, the nature of the allegations, the staff member suspected to have caused the injury, maltreatment or neglect, eyewitness accounts, and disciplinary action taken. The suspected staff member will be placed on an unpaid leave of absence pending the outcome of an internal investigation. If the child requires medical attention, 911 will be summoned.Regardless of the outcome of the DCYF investigation, it will be at the discretion of the Owner and the Director whether or not a staff member will remain employed or be terminated.
At the time of employment, staff members will be instructed regarding the facility’s abuse and neglect policy. A mandatory staff training seminar on the subject of mandated reporting requirements and the prevention and detection of child abuse and neglect will be held annually at the PACC as well as periodically reviewed at staff meeting thoughout the year. All documentation will remain part of the involved child and staff member’s permanent file.
